Reporting to the Pool Supervisor, as a Lifeguard, you will learn and become proficient in safe and proper lifeguard techniques (using NL standards) with the main emphasis on patron safety, providing high quality customer service and pool supervision and/or instruction to all pool patrons. Other duties may include: responding to incidents that occur in the facility, actively participating in mandatory in-service training events, and carrying out regular checks of the change room and general guard area.
If you have the qualifications to be an Instructor in addition to a Lifeguard, you will also learn and become proficient in safe and proper techniques in teaching swimming lessons (Lifesaving Society Standards) or Aquafit. You may also instruct and prepare aquatic lessons for children, youth, and adults, and evaluate class participant performance, completing progress cards as applicable.
Qualifications for Lifeguards include:
- Current National Lifeguard Award
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C
- The ability to pass the Building Standards Exam
- Strong customer service skills
Required qualifications for Lifeguard/Instructor include:
- The above lifeguard qualifications
- Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Award and/or Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor Award.

Compensation:
Lifeguard rate of pay: $30.39 per hour
Instructor rate of pay: $41.28 per hou
