Are you passionate about creating safer workplaces and driving a culture of health and safety excellence? Comeau’s Sea Foods Ltd. is looking for a dedicated Health and Safety Coordinator to lead safety initiatives across our production facilities.
What You’ll Do:
As our Health and Safety Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our operations across multiple facilities. Your responsibilities will include:
✔Coordinating mandatory safety training (e.g., First Aid, Forklift, Confined Space Entry)
✔Managing incident reporting and investigations
✔Conducting facility safety inspections and audits
✔Overseeing PPE inventory and equipment compliance
✔Leading safety orientations for new hires and contractors
✔Supporting respiratory fit testing and harness inspections
✔Updating health and safety policies and procedures
✔Facilitating toolbox talks and supporting JOHSC members
✔Ensuring regulatory compliance with Nova Scotia OHS, Canada Labour Code, TC, and CSA standards
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a proactive, detail-oriented leader with:
✔A diploma or certification in Occupational Health and Safety (or related field)
✔Minimum 2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in industrial or manufacturing settings
✔Valid certifications in First Aid, Confined Space Entry, and other relevant safety areas
✔Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
✔Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and safety data tracking
✔Ability to influence safe behaviors and foster a culture of continuous improvement
Physical Requirements:
This role involves hands-on safety work across various facilities. You should be comfortable with:
✔Standing for extended periods
✔Performing repetitive tasks and physical inspections
✔Climbing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, crawling, and working in confined spaces
✔Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
✔Working in cold environments with proper PPE
